About Barbless River Outfitters & Your Guide
Welcome to Barbless River Outfitters, based in the heart of the Poconos. The company is built on a simple philosophy—fish barbless, respect the water, and protect the fish. Every guided trip reflects a commitment to responsible angling, conservation, and preserving the integrity of the art for future generations.
Owner and guide Jim Pasa brings a lifetime of experience on the water, paired with a professional background defined by precision and discipline. Jim continues to enjoy a 45-year career as a professional pilot and has used his downtime during and between work trips to pursue a secondary passion—the art of fly fishing—across a wide range of waters and conditions, including numerous destinations throughout the United States, as well as the Bahamas, Caribbean, Western Europe, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, and French Polynesia. Jim carries his fly fishing gear wherever he goes, always in pursuit of the next potential first-time fishing destination or a return to familiar waters and lifelong friendships created through travel related coincidences and a shared passion for fishing.
Jim is currently trained and certified in the long range Gulfstream G600, the versatile Pilatus PC-12 NGX, and the search & rescue proven Airbus H135 helicopter. He is also a commercial glider pilot, certified flight instructor and enjoys practicing aerobatics—further reflecting his passion for precision, control, and the art of flight. This same focus on safety, preparation, and attention to detail carries into every guided trip.
Jim is also certified in First Aid, CPR, and the use of an AED—he comes equipped with a comprehensive first aid kit and an AED on every guided trip, providing an added level of safety and peace of mind on the water.
He is married and has raised three children to adulthood—two sons and one daughter—instilling in them the same values of dedication, respect, and appreciation for the outdoors. Outside of fishing, Jim enjoys golf, snowboarding, hunting, automobile restoration, home DIY projects, preparedness, and flying RC model aircraft.
Whether you're new to fly fishing, familiar and looking to refine your techniques, or a seasoned angler just looking to be guided into personal unchartered waters for a day, Barbless River Outfitters is designed to assist you to find what you are in search of and at the very least, send you home with a pocket full of new “finned and tailed” memories to take with you.
